Two Generation Initiative Manager
What is your background?
I was born and raised in Milwaukee, WI and I earned my bachelor’s in English and Communication from UW-Parkside, and my Master of Education from Marquette University. After college, I spent two years teaching English at an alternative school in Dallas, TX, before returning to Wisconsin to work in higher education and college preparation programs serving students in Racine and Milwaukee.
What is your favorite thing to do in Racine County?
I really love going to the lake in Racine. It's always a beautiful and peaceful time.
When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I wanted to be a writer; specifically a screenwriter and a novelist. I absolutely love writing, reading, storytelling and film theory. I lived for the scholastic book fair and trips to the library, and I can appreciate almost any genre of film or TV (besides horror).
What makes you excited to be a part of the Higher Expectations team?
It's exciting to be a part of such meaningful work while working alongside truly talented and dedicated team members. I’m consistently amazed by the range of knowledge and experiences among the team. I’m also proud to be a part of the effort to move Racine’s students and families forward.
What's one thing you love that has nothing to do with work?
I’m creative so I love anything that has to do with making something. I can spend hours in an arts and crafts store and I’m often taking on new hobbies and interests.
