What do you do at Higher Expectations?
I challenge systems leaders to co-create solutions with Racine residents and support the Higher Expectations engagement & data team. This helps improve educational outcomes by ensuring systems are changed in a way that fits community needs.
What is your background?
I grew up in Wisconsin, then attended the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities, where I received a Bachelors in Journalism. After graduating, I accepted a position as an English Educator volunteer with Peace Corps - Madagascar, which ignited my love for community-based work. After returning from Madagascar, I spent some time working in a Milwaukee non-profit, Secure Futures, before I decided to return to school to get my Master’s degree in International Public Affairs from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
I live in Racine with my partner and stepdaughter, as well as our cat, dog, dwarf rats, and goldfish
What is your favorite thing to do in Racine County?
There are so many beautiful parks for walks in Racine! Colonial Park is one of my favorites.
When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
When I grow up I want to be a non-fiction author...there is still time!
What makes you excited to be a part of the Higher Expectations team?
I am excited to be a part of a team that believes in collaborative action and is working hard to empower Racine County to reach its highest potential. I love being able to create space for the community to engage in co-creating solutions across our outcome areas. I’m thrilled to be a part of building a stronger, brighter future for Racine County!
What's one thing you love that has nothing to do with work?
I recently started playing video games! The Zelda series is my fav!
