Celebrating the Week of the Young Child in Racine
Each April, communities across the country come together to celebrate the 55th anniversary of the Week of the Young Child, a time to recognize the importance of early learning and the role families, educators, and communities play in a child’s development. Led by the National Association for the Education of Young Children, this annual celebration highlights how play, creativity, and connection help young children learn and grow.
Here in Racine, that commitment is clear. Both Racine County Executive Ralph Malicki and City of Racine Mayor Cory Mason have officially proclaimed April 11–17, 2026 as the Week of the Young Child, recognizing the importance of supporting our youngest learners and those who care for them.
At Higher Expectations for Racine County, we know that early experiences shape long-term success. From strengthening family engagement in schools to using data to improve outcomes, our work is rooted in ensuring every child has the opportunity to thrive from the start. Throughout the week, we’ll be highlighting the people, partnerships, and strategies that are helping young children succeed in our community.
