What do you do at higher expectations?

In my role as the Communications Coordinator, I coordinate the external communications at Higher Expectations to support community engagement. This helps improve economic mobility for Racine residents by expanding our reach and visibility in the community.

What is your background?

I grew up in northern rural Wisconsin and attended UW-Stevens Point where I majored in Communications. I recently started working towards a Master’s Degree in Cultural Foundations of Community Engagement & Education at UW-Milwaukee. Most of my work background comes from higher education student services and non-profit administration. I’m also passionate about volunteering for LGBTQ+ safety initiatives, mental health, and suicide prevention.

I just moved to Milwaukee this spring with my cat, Lucifer and my dog, Blitz.

What is your favorite thing to do in Racine County?

I don’t have one yet - actually, my first day at Higher Expectations was my first time visiting Racine. I’m excited to work so close to Lake Michigan.

When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?

I always wanted to be a veterinarian because of my love for animals. As I grew up, I had the goal of becoming an English teacher.

What makes you excited to be a part of the Higher Expectations team?

I’m excited to work with an organization that highly values diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging.

What's one thing you love that has nothing to do with work?

I enjoy going to the movies, playing video games, or going on adventures with my dog. I also love Star Wars, but lately my obsession has been playing the video game Baldur’s Gate 3.
